Mathew is the chief sports broadcaster for Channel Nine’s esteemed Wide World of Sports Rugby.
He leads the network’s NRL coverage and conveys the unmissable moments from the biggest games each year – State of Origin,Grand Final and and Test Matches.
Mathew will be a key pillar of Nine’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics as head swimming caller. He has broadcast two world championships in the lead up to the Paris games and is in the privileged position to describe Australian Olympic gold medals.
He has recently covered Australian golf majors and international cricket.
Highlighting his versatility, Mathew hosts a suite of market leading podcasts including ‘Six Tackles with Gus’ alongside the legendary Phil Gould.
He was responsible for the writing, development and presentation of the highly successful ‘Stories of Origin’ podcast series and will shortly launch a long-form, documentary series called Road To Paris, based on intimate interviews with Australia’s greatest Olympians.
Mathew has a long history of creating and hosting commercially successful radio programs. He continues to host popular radio panel programs including Wide World of Sports radio and The Continuous Call Team, for which he also broadcasts NRL matches. From concept, development, writing and execution, Mat is experienced and highly sought after for voice overs as well as other creative projects across the sporting landscape.
